Mission & Vision

Embodying Georgia Tech’s commitment to global engagement, the First-Year Semester Abroad (FYSA) Program leverages Georgia Tech’s global campuses and programs to provide a high quality, unique, immersive learning opportunity for students who wish to internationalize their college career and accelerate their journey to global citizenship.

There are two FYSA program tracks: FYSA @ GTE, hosted by Georgia Tech’s European Campus (GT Europe or GTE) in Metz, France, and FYSA @ Oxford, where students will study and live at one of the Colleges of the University of Oxford in England and will continue coursework as they travel throughout continental Europe.

Goals

  • Provide an immersive program to a small cohort of exceptional students who wish to expand their intellectual and cultural horizons, gain intercultural sensitivity skills, and deepen their knowledge and understanding of new cultures while also fulfilling the traditional first-year degree requirements.
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and unique learning environment that immerses students in new cultures, exposes them to European perspectives on global issues, and challenges them to become adventurous, mindful learners.
  • Offer experiential, travel-based learning opportunities and co-curricular enrichment.
